Velünk az Isten!
Szeretett Testvéreim!
Isten ígéretét Ézsaiás közli (Ézs 7,14) úgy, amint azt Máté karácsonyi evangéliuma megismétli. „Íme szűz fogan méhében, fiút szül, akit Immánuelnek neveznek, ami azt jelenti: Velünk az Isten.” (Mt 1,23). Évszázadokon át ez az ígéret éltette a kiválasztottakat, ez élteti az elhívottakat mindmáig és az elkövetkezendőkben. Máté evangéliumában megkapjuk a mennyeit hordozó, minden várakozást felülmúló név hiteles fordítását, jelentését és üzenetét. Az ünnepi napokat telítő örömöt mintegy keretbe fogja a titkot magyarázó név, sőt mindent áthat és ellenállhatatlan vágyat kelt a meghittség hétköznapokra való átvitelére. A karácsonyra szűkített Isten-közeli élmény mintha az ünneptelen napokra a fájdalmas magunkra hagyottság tapasztalatára cserélődne. Nemcsak nincs közel, hanem elmenekült mellőlünk. Még a hívő emberekben is előáll az ünnep utáni kiüresedés fájdalmas benyomása, hogyne jelentkezne ez a kételkedőknél. Karácsony ünnepén várható, hogy felmerül bennünk a kérdés, hogy hogyan van velünk az Isten, és ha megkérdeznek gyermekeink vagy elkeseredett felnőttek erről, mit mondunk? Mutasd meg az Urat, a Jézuskát, az angyalt… – hallom gyermekkorom vágyát visszacsengő szavakban, érzékelem elkeseredő emberek óhaját, félelmekkel szenvedők követelését. Karácsonykor sem a gyertyafényben vagy a díszes fenyőfán mutatjuk meg a velünk lévőt. Mint ahogy az ünnep összes csillogó kelléke is kevés, hogy Istent lássunk, amint velünk van. Az ünnepi hangulat hozhat enyhületet, néhány áldott órát, de utána még emésztőbb a kérdés, miként van velünk az Isten. A gyülekezet hívő tagjainak számolnia kell azzal, hogy ilyen halálosan is leterhelt korban, mint amit elszenvedünk, tudatosabban is készülnünk kell Isten jelenlétének kérdéseire válaszolni, mert nem mindenki képes hitben elfogadni ezt a tényt. Tudatosítanunk kell, hogy a próféta jövendölése szó szerint beteljesedett. Jézus megszületett, itt élt az övéi között és véghez vitte tökéletesen Isten üdvözítő szándékát. Eljön majd ítélni eleveneket és holtakat, de addig is itt van velünk, csak más vonatkozásban. A közvetlen és közvetett jelenlét igazságát kell megértenünk és megértetnünk, hogy ne tagadásba fúljon el az Istennel való együttlétünk, hanem csodákban tapasztaljuk meg annak mindennapi valóságát. Velünk az Isten, amikor hitelesen szólnak róla testvérek, akik életében már rendet teremtett a jelenvaló. Velünk az Isten, ha a halál torkából érkezők szólnak az irgalomról. Velünk az Isten, amikor mi is megtapasztaljuk, hogy nélküle semmire nem jutottunk volna, de most itt vagyunk kegyelemmel és mennyei ajándékokkal. Velünk az Isten a felebarát mondatában, mosolyában, kézfogásában, tervében és munkájában. Velünk az Isten, amikor így hordozzuk mi is felebarátainkat, ha kell pénzünkkel, szolgálatunkkal, imádságunkkal és mindennel, amink van és amit elnyerünk a szükségekre. Velünk az Isten, hogy velünk maradjon, és hogy velünk ossza szeretetét másoknak, és a másokét nekünk. Karácsonykor ezzel a biztatással keresi Isten egyházkerületünk valamennyi tagjának a szívét, hogy ezzel a bizonyossággal forduljunk egymáshoz támogatón, tele hittel és reménységgel. Imádkozzunk a keresztyénekért, az egészségünkért, a magyar nemzetért azzal a meggyőződéssel, hogy Isten erővel és hatalommal van velünk!
Áldott karácsonyt ad a mi Urunk minden gyermekének, és adjon is nekünk, hogy bátorságot vegyünk az általunk még nem ismert jövőbeni küzdelmekhez.

Dumnezeu este cu noi!
Dragi frați și surori!
Promisiunea lui Dumnezeu este predată de Isaia (Isaia 7:14), așa cum este repetată în Evanghelia de Crăciun a lui Matei. “Iată, fecioara va fi însărcinată, va naşte un fiu şi-I vor pune numele Emanuel”, care, tălmăcit, înseamnă: „Dumnezeu este cu noi”. (Matei 1,23). De-a lungul secolelor, această promisiune i-a susținut pe cei aleși, îi susține pe cei chemați, până în ziua de azi și în veacurile ce vor veni.
În Evanghelia lui Matei primim traducerea autentică, semnificația și mesajul numelui care poartă cerul, un nume care întrece orice așteptări. Bucuria care umple zilele de sărbătoare este încadrată de numele care explică misterul și care pătrunde totul, creând o dorință irezistibilă de a transpune această intimitate în viața de zi cu zi. Este ca și cum experiența apropierii de Dumnezeu, restrânsă la Crăciun, este înlocuită de o experiență de abandon dureros în zilele fără sărbătoare. Nu numai că nu este aproape, dar a fugit de noi. Chiar și la credincioși, există un sentiment dureros de gol după sărbătoare, și cum să nu fie așa și în cazul celor care se îndoiesc.
De Crăciun este de așteptat să ne întrebăm în ce formă este Dumnezeu cu noi, iar atunci când suntem întrebați de copiii noștri sau de adulții disperați, ce spunem? Arată-mi pe Domnul, arată-mi pe Isus, arată-mi îngerul… – Aud în cuvinte ecoul dorului copilăriei mele, simt rugămințile disperate ale oamenilor disperați, cererile celor care suferă de frică. Nici de Crăciun, nu în lumina lumânărilor sau în bradul împodobit îl arătăm pe cel cine este cu noi. La fel cum toate accesoriile strălucitoare ale sărbătorii nu sunt suficiente pentru a-L vedea pe Dumnezeu atunci când este cu noi. Spiritul de sărbătoare poate aduce ușurare, câteva ore binecuvântate, dar după aceea întrebarea despre cum este Dumnezeu cu noi este și mai digestivă.
Membrii credincioși ai congregației trebuie să recunoască faptul că, într-o epocă atât de împovărată de moarte precum cea pe care o trăim, trebuie să fim și noi mai conștient pregătiți să răspundem la întrebările despre prezența lui Dumnezeu, pentru că nu toată lumea este capabilă să accepte cu credință acest fapt. Trebuie să fim conștienți de faptul că profeția profetului s-a împlinit în mod literal. Isus s-a născut, a trăit printre ai săi și a îndeplinit perfect scopul salvator al lui Dumnezeu. El va veni să-i judece pe cei vii și pe cei morți, dar între timp este aici cu noi, doar că într-un context diferit. Trebuie să înțelegem adevărul acestei prezențe directe și indirecte, pentru ca timpul nostru împreună cu Dumnezeu să nu se piardă în negare, ci pentru ca să putem trăi realitatea ei zilnică în miracole.
Dumnezeu este cu noi atunci când este vorbit în mod autentic de frați și surori ale căror vieți au fost deja puse în ordine de Prezentul. Dumnezeu este cu noi când cei care vin din ghearele morții ne vorbesc de milă. Dumnezeu este alături de noi atunci când experimentăm că fără El nu am fi fost nimic, dar acum suntem aici cu har și daruri cerești. Dumnezeu este cu noi în cuvintele, zâmbetele, strângerile de mână, planurile și lucrările aproapelui. Dumnezeu este cu noi atunci când îl purtăm pe aproapele nostru în acest fel, dacă este nevoie, cu banii noștri, cu serviciul nostru, cu rugăciunile noastre, cu tot ceea ce avem și cu tot ceea ce putem întinde la nevoie. Dumnezeu este cu noi pentru a rămâne cu noi și pentru a ne împărtăși dragostea Sa pentru ceilalți și pe alții pentru noi.
De Crăciun, cu această încurajare, Dumnezeu caută inimile tuturor membrilor eparhiei noastre, pentru ca, cu această siguranță, să ne întoarcem unii la alții în sprijin, plini de credință și speranță. Să ne rugăm pentru creștini, pentru sănătatea noastră, pentru națiunea maghiară cu convingerea că Dumnezeu este cu noi cu putere și tărie!
Fie ca Domnul nostru să dăruiască un Crăciun binecuvântat tuturor copiilor Săi și să ne dea curajul de a înfrunta luptele viitoare pe care încă nu le-am cunoscut.

Christmas Greetings “God with us”
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, Isaiah speaks about the promise of God in Isaiah 7,14. His message is then reiterated by Matthew: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”) (Matthew 1,23). For long centuries, the chosen ones have lived and will continue to live upon this promise. The Gospel of Matthew gives us the genuine translation, the proper meaning and authentic message of the heavenly name, which surpasses any expectation. The enigmatic name is explained, a frame around the joy of holidays is provided. Furthermore, this ever-persistent explanation urges us to transfer the festive intimacy of Christmas to ordinary days. However, our Christmastime God-experiences seem to be replaced by painful experiences of loneliness during ordinary weekdays. It seems that God has left us. Believers sometimes face the sorrowful impression of emptying, after Christmas, and it naturally occurs with the sceptical. At Christmas, the following question it may occur: how is God with us? How to answer this question if children or desperate adults ask us? “Show me the Lord; show me Little Jesus; I need to see the angel …” I actually recognise these questions, which are echoing my own childhood desires, behind the wish and demand of those bittered or scared. The candle light and the decorated Christmas tree would not reflect the One Who is with us. All the bright accessories would fail to show us God, as being with us. The festive mood may bring about some relief, some blessed hours, just for the question to appear then more frightful: how is God with us? Church-goers should be aware that in difficult times, similar to our contemporary virus situation, questions of “God-presence” are frequently asked, as not everyone is able to accept His presence in faith. We need to be prepared to explain others that the prophecy was fulfilled literally: Jesus was born; He lived among us; and He perfectly accomplished God’s intention for salvation. Hewill come to judge the living and the dead, but until then He is still with us, but in a different relevance. We must understand the truth of direct and indirect presence, so that His communion is experienced through daily miracles. God is with us, when my sisters and brothers, whose lives are governed by His presence, confess Him genuinely. God is with us, when those who escaped sure death witness about mercy. God is with us, when we recognize that we would have achieved nothing without Him but instead we are standing strong by His grace and heavenly gifts. God is with us, when others talk, smile, plan and work. God is with us, when we support others with prayers or work, or when sharing with them our God-given resources. God is with us to share His love towards humans via us, and to show us His love for us via others. At Christmas, God searches for our hearts with these encouragements, so that we turn to each other in support, with faith and hope. Let us pray for our fellow Christians and members of other denominations worldwide. Let us pray for our Hungarian-speaking fellows in faith and in ecumenical community, with the conviction that God is with us. May God bring all His children a merry Christmas so that we may take strength before our upcoming challenges!
